From the Little Engine that Could... to yes we can!
When we first opened, we could not have afforded the "bigger" bridal shows even if we had wanted to. We also found that the bigger shows tended to attract the bigger budgeted Vendors. (We prefer the name Bridal Associates) which... we were not. How were we going to introduce ourselves at bridal events if we could not and did not fit the traditional shows?
Well, if the little engine that could ... could... so could we :)
So, we started our own "Little Bridal Show (that could)" We launched our first show at the Peterborough Lions Club using 2 rooms and about 10 Bridal Associates. These were mostly people who we had met along our journey of opening who were also small businesses and looking to meet the wonderfully engaged individuals of Peterborough. We ensured that not only was it affordable (free or by donation) to attend the show for brides, it needed to be affordable for Bridal Associates of any size. (After all, if they aren't spending loads of money on these shows, perhaps they are able to offer more affordable options to Brides and Grooms - Right!?!) We included a "Pop Up Bridal Suite" which allowed folks to come and try on (and buy if they found the right one) a wedding dress.
Year two (2017) we continued at the Lions Club, but we took up 3 rooms and had many more Bridal Associates. How much fun it was the Brides and Grooms were lined up at the door waiting to get in at 1pm!! This show proved to us that we were on to something. This was what Peterborough was looking for! We were bringing together great Bridal Associates and amazing couples to chat, mingle, share ideas. Sometimes they clicked, sometimes they didn't. Bridal Associates were recommending the show to their contacts and it was growing into something we could all be proud of. Bridal Associates vetting other bridal associates, so the couples would only get the best of the best!
Year three (2018)- well haven't we grown! We needed to move to a bigger location and called Personal Touch Banquet Hall our new home. We could increase the amount of Bridal Associates we could present to engaged couples and offer more options! We have a video (below) from 2018. As things change so did our name. We didn't feel the "LittleBridalShow" was doing our show justice anymore! So we did some rebranding and ended up being the "NotSoLittleBridalShow". We added bridesmaid dresses to the pop up bridal suite.
Year four (2019) Again, we saw growth in the number of Bridal Associates and the number of couples coming thru the door. It is remarkable to watch Peterborough grow with us and see familiar faces from the shop, along with new faces yet to visit our brick and mortar location.
We did away with the "pop up bridal suite" as we could better visit with the guests at the show, and instead offer a discount to come visit us in store!
We look forward to continuing the "Not So Little Bridal Show" for years to come! Please watch for us in November of each year - We are quickly becoming "the" show to attend!!
